LANDLORD FINED FOR 
SUPPLYING A CONSTABLE
James Thompson, landlord of the Aqueduct Inn, Water Lane, was 
summoned for serving a constable on duty.
At 10.45pm on Friday 14th August, Sergeant Hudson found 
PC Morris in the house with a pint cup of beer. He was on duty at 
the time and was wearing his armlet.
For the defence it was submitted that Morris was accompanied by 
another constable who was not on duty, and the landlord failed to
see the former's armband.
Fined 20s. plus costs.
