Steve, My name is Edna Billsborough and I am researching the Billsborough's so I can pass something on to my children and Grandchildren. My Husband Brian Billsborough and I married in 1959 and emigrated to Canada in 1969 Unfortunately, Brian died in 1975 but I remained in Canada. James Edward who owned the Green Man in in Lord St. was Brian's great grandad. I learned he was the publican of the Green Man from the 1881 census. I didn't know he was a publican again in 1893 till I saw this page. Do you have any peronal info on James Edward and the other Billsboroughs that were publicans of the Green Man. Are you a relative of the Halliwells that own the book store in Friagate? I often used to go into that store. I am over in Preston in May and hope to pick up the book on pubs. Any info you can give me would be gratefully appreciated. I will be 83 years old this year so I am eager to get something on paper soon as one never knows what the future holds. Yours sincerely, Edna Billsborough.1881==================
ReplyDeleteHello Edna.
DeleteThanks for that. I don't have any information to hand, but will endeavour to find some. If you write to me by email at srh.steve@aol.co.uk it would be better if I send any replies by that medium than on the website. I used to work with a man called Billsborough (Phillip), so I'll contact him to ask if he's related. It's not an uncommon name in the Preston area.
