Believed to have been situated on the opposite side of Church Street,
from Patten House, the home of the Derby family.
It would be adjacent to the stables belonging to Patten House, and
more than likely what the name refers to.

All that messuage or burgage and tenement with the appurtenances situate standing and being in Preston aforesaid on the south side of a certain street there called the Church Gate formerly in the possession of Agnes Patten widow deceased afterwards of Rachel Bennett widow deceased and the said Alexander Gerrard his assigns farmers or tenants formerly adjoining on the east end thereof to a messuage or burgage then late or then before the inheritance or in the possession of James Harrison of Preston aforesaid chapman deceased his undertenants or assigns but now on such east side as well as on the south side thereof to a yard passage or foot path leading out of Churchgate now called Church Street into Water Street and on the west side thereof to another messuage or burgage and premises formerly the inheritance or in the possession of Hammerton Astley Esquire deceased with the Backside Brewhouse Backbuildings and appurtenances thereunto belonging all which said premises mentioned and intended to be hereby bargained and sold are at present in the tenure holding or occupation of John Williams and occupied by him as an Inn or Public House and known by the sign of the ‘Naggs Head’

The Crown Hotel was one of four inns that fronted Church Street
where the Arndale (Miller) Arcade now stands. After all the building  were
demolished, a new Crown Hotel was incorporated in the Arcade.
A trace can still be found [see below for photographs].

LANE ENDS HOTEL, BLACKPOOL, every day (Sunday excepted).

The Coach will start from the Crown Inn Coach office precisely at
quarter before four o'clock in the Afternoon, excepting Saturdays, 
on which days it will start at Quarter past four o'clock.

INQUEST:
On Saturday morning last, Thomas Leece, well-known as a 
porter, who has for some years attended the coaches, was found
dead in an outbuilding of the Crown Inn. An inquest was held the
same day on the body, before Thomas Troughton Esq., Mayor,
and a verdict of "Died by Visitation of God."
