GREY HORSE AND SEVEN STARS, Fishergate

GREY HORSE AND SEVEN STARS   #

Perhaps J.H.S was unaware that in the 1732 Poor Law

JOHN BARRETT, GREY HORSE & SEVEN STARS,
Fishergate, Preston, would feel much obliged if the person who
has frequently pocketed his copy of the Preston Chronicle on the
day of publication, for some time past, would delay his visit until
Monday or Tuesday, when he would gladly make him a present
of it, and he would have no objections to treat him to a glass of
superior tap in the bargain, as a compensation for the news being
a little older. He makes this request as he and his customers are
inconvenienced when the Chronicle is taken on the Saturday, as
it is frequently asked for on that day.
