  1. Jonathan Swarbrick was born in 1857 at Churchtown, a son of Robert and Elizabeth [Whiteside] Swarbrick.

    Extracts from the Preston Directory:
    1885 Beerhouse - Jonathan Swarbrick New Welcome Inn, 14, Sizer Street.
    1889 Beerhouse - Jonathan Swarbrick Anchor Inn, 13, Nile Street.

    He remained at the New Anchor until 1895.

    Jonathan Swarbrick married Elizabeth Calderbank [nee Grime] in 1896 in the Garstang area. Elizabeth was the widow of John Calderbank and buried two husbands in six years before dying herself in 1899. John died in 1897.
