EAGLE AND CHILD, New Street

EAGLE AND CHILD
New Street
*
Whether this is just an error in a Trade Directory,
or whether there is another explanation may never be known.
*
MINE HOST:
1829   William Smith
*
I have a record that a William Smith was the landlord of
the SWAN INN, New Street, between 1822 and 1832,
although I have a further record that in 1829, George Jackson
was the landlord there. However, it isn't uncommon for there
to be tenures at two different times by the same person.
*
Occasionally, the same name can recur, but further research
shows that it can be father and son, with the same name.

An extreme occurrence was father, son and grandson,
all with the same name!
