HESKETH ARMS, Preston Quay

HESKETH ARMS
Preston Quay

MINE HOST:
1824    Richard Bolton

I have no evidence as to where this pub was, but I become
more and more convinced that it was at, or near to, the site
of the current "Wheatsheaf Hotel' in Watery Lane.

The 'wheatsheaf' was the heraldic sign of the Hesketh family.
It was clearly in this area, and it would seem a logical explanation.

The Hesketh family also lived at Tulketh Hall, immediately to the
rear of the Wheatsheaf Hotel, at the top of the hill.

UNTIL SOMEBODY TELLS ME OTHERWISE !!
