STOCKING, The, Back Wiend (Lord Street)

THE STOCKING
Back Weind (later Lord Street)
*
Later became -
"THE VOLUNTEER"
"THE WAGGON AND HORSES"
"THE TITHEBARN"
*
I believe that it had previously been called
"THE SETTING DOG"
*
The plan that accompanied the Indenture referred to below,
is almost exactly the same as it is now, over 200 years later -
including the cut-off shape to the kerbing.
Have a look next time you're near the bus station, as
Tithebarn Street turns into Lord Street.

*
MINE HOSTS:
1793 - 96     Edward Dewhurst
1793            Seth German
1796            Mr. Dewhurst   Despite the information contained on this page, the premises were referred
to as the 'Wagon and Horses' in the records of Election expenses in 1796.
                                                                     DDX/1683/76
