ROBBERY OF FLANNEL FROM A SHOP DOOR

John Kelley and Mary Ann Clark, were arraigned 

on a charge of stealing 40 yards of blur union flannel

from the shop door of Mr. J. J. Singleton, draper of

Church Street, between ten and eleven o'clock on

the night of the 3rd instant. Mary Johnson, the keeper

of a lodging house in Dale Street, deposed that the

female prisoner came to her and sold her sufficient

blue union flannel to make two petticoats. She had 

had it for three days when she gave it up to P.S. Pool.

The male prisoner had spoken to another man in the

Three Crowns beer-house in Stanley Street, of having

some cloth to sell.

Mrs. Topping, the female searcher, said that she had

found a petticoat upon the female prisoner, made of

similar material to that produced by P.S. Pool.

The prisoners both pleaded guilty, and were committed to

Sessions for trial.
