SUSPECTED INFANTICIDE AT PRESTON
A few days ago, Mrs. Margaret Robinson, keeper
of the Southgate Tavern, Preston, gave birth to a child
at the house of a friend, and when a medical man was
called in the child was dead, and he thought the skull
was fractured.

This being  rumoured abroad, the Coroner ordered an
exhumation of the body, as it had been buried at the cemetery,
but Mr. Marshall, M.D., on examining it, said that the
child had never breathed, and at an inquest held on
Wednesday last, the jury returned a verdict of "Stillborn."
