beerhouse went by the name "MOUNTAIN STAG"

The passage to the right of the Harp Inn was called 'Jerry Lobby.' The Fortune of War
was to the right of that passage.

  1. Thomas Snape was still at the Fortune of War in 1850 when he married Margaret (Winders) Crombleholme of the Windsor Castle. Her husband Richard had died at the Windsor Castle the year before.

    "MARRIAGES...On Monday last, at St. Ignatius's Catholic Church, Mr. Thomas Snape, of the Fortune of War, to Mrs. Margaret Crombleholme, of the Windsor Castle, both of this town."
