1924 Alice Sumner - According to a report in the Preston Guardian 3rd May 1924, the house was owned by L.M.S. Railway Company, and it was said that within a radius of 240 yards, there were four fully licensed houses and three beer-houses. In a statement by the police, it was said that the facilities for police supervision was good, but said that the premises were open so little because the landlord went out to work, that the premises could be spared.
It would seem that post-First World War circumstances had seriously affected the trade of a number of houses.
*
At some point ownership of the house passed to:
The London and North West Railway Company, Euston Station, London,
&
The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, Manchester
-
Whether that was as different times, or was joint ownership, I don't know.
