APPLICATION FOR SPIRIT LICENCE
Cornelius Coward had applied unsuccessfully the previous year for
such a licence, at a time when he rent the house from his father. Since
that time he had become the owner. There had also been a large
increase in population since then. He house was rated at £19, and
when he rented it from his father he paid £20 P.A.

APPLICATION FOR A SPIRIT LICENCE
Frederick Coward applied for a spirit licence for the
Cricketers' Arms, a place much frequented by a class
of gentlemen who had recommended the granting of the
licence, who would not, from their profession as
cricketers, have done so if they thought it injurious
and not beneficial.

My parents had the cricketers in the 70s! Alan and June Dickinson. A nice surprise to see their names. Some of my happiest childhood memories were from here. Lynn
