I've found some papers referring to some deeds of 1756/1742 which show that a distant relative of mine, Joseph Holland, bought a half share in the Parkers Arms Inn, on "East side of the Kings Highway from Wigan to Preston". I assume this is the same pub. If anyone has further info, I'd be interested.
ReplyDeletePaul, That sounds very interesting. However, I'd be tempted to treat things with caution.
ReplyDeleteThe dates seem very early for this pub. If you have any other clues feel free to write again. See contact page for email address. Cheers
My great grandma is Jane Leeming.
