YORK CASTLE #
101 Adelphi Street
c. 1899 - William and Catherine NEWBY are standing together, just to the right of
the door. William was a hansom cab driver. Later, the Co-op, took over the York Castle
and the shop you can (just) see next door (to the left), and opened a store.
I have a feeling that number 100 was already owned by the Co-op.

The "Britannia" can just be seen to the left of the arch legs.
The "York Castle" is directly above the chair, right, and the
"Victoria " is to the right of the right leg of the arch.

That site says the image is taken looking towards the town centre.
I disagree; I think it's taken looking away from the town centre, and towards Plungington Road.
