- Like two other Royal George's in the town, this one was named
as a memorial to the 1782 disaster, when the ship 'Royal George'
was lost with 800 lives lost.

REFUSING TO ADMIT POLICE.
Edmund Bennett, of the Royal George Inn, Hudson Street,  was on Tuesday fined 10 shillings 

and costs, for refusing to admit the police into his house on Sunday afternoon.
