| The passage to the right of the Harp Inn was called 'Jerry Lobby.' The Fortune of War was to the right of that passage. The Malt Kiln Tavern (also known as the Mountain Stag between 1861 and 1869) was to the right of that, where we now see a pale-coloured shop. |

Thomas Snape was still at the Fortune of War in 1850 when he married Margaret (Winders) Crombleholme of the Windsor Castle. Her husband Richard had died at the Windsor Castle the year before.
